Vicky Jiménez Kasintseva had a bye in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open, a WTA 1,000 tournament. The Andorran tennis player was closer than ever to the first victory in a championship of this category, but ended up falling to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, current number 599 in the world and finalist of Roland Garros in 2021 by 1 to 6, 7 to 6 (7-5) and 6 to 7 (7-9).
